Who's behind Astor + Tyne?

Astor + Tyne's classic style is mixed effortlessly with current trends. It is urban city chic and made to take the wearer from domestic engineer errands, to meetings in the office or coffee shop and then beyond the busy day, out to dinner and drinks.

Made in Australia using many skilled fashion creators, and also a select small team overseas, each of the label's pieces are designed, sketched, meticulously edited and overseen in Adelaide. With a focus on using natural fibres wherever possible. All with the Australian woman, her busy lifestyle and climate in mind. Astor + Tyne is overwhelmingly passionate about confident women and proudly South Australian.

The label's designer, Nicola, has always surrounded herself with fashion and embraced emerging trends - since the age of 12 when she began learning the skills to create garments for herself and her friends. 

The soft floaty, and textural fabrics, the sophisticated style, the ease only a good cut can give you, the colour and prints to add some wow, and the touch of glamour from the gold hardware that brings you to a place of happiness. Each piece is designed to put a smile on your face.

The modern world means we all lead very busy lives, whatever the days are filled with, but we all want to, and deserve to feel good when we step out the door.

This is a label for you who enjoy everything it is to be a current, independent woman.

 

Where does the name Astor + Tyne finds its origins...?

Lady Nancy Astor was the first female to be publicly elected to government in England in 1919. Prior to this she was in the rag trade and was a flamboyant fashionista and trailblazer for her time. She traded in silks and furs, and was a strong woman with modern views. It was her forward thinking, her intelligence and these strong feminist characteristics, which drew Nicola particularly to her story.

Melanie originally made up the other half of the Astor + Tyne team in it's infancy, and this is where the ‘Tyne’ part of the name comes from. She was affectionately known as ‘Tyne’ by her family when she was young as she was such a tiny baby.

Thus, the concept of luxe and love was made into a brand, which is the foundation for this South Australian fashion label.
