Things that are helping my family of 4 through covid
Well, this week’s blog has turned out to be very different to the one I expected to write – and a few days late too!
The day after my last Instagram live post we discovered 3 out of 4 of our household were covid positive… My husband was the only negative result, so he’s isolating in the two front rooms of our house and working from home – fingers crossed he doesn’t get it!
It’s the one situation we’ve all been desperately trying to avoid for 2years now, and although we’re all fully vaccinated, we’ve managed to pick up this wonderful new strain of the virus that has been running rampant this last month in Adelaide. Thank God, not as severe as the first wave of covid.
As I lay here in my bed, I was thinking of the things that have helped us through these last few days and have confirmed – in most situations - that no amount of pre purchase panic buying is necessary. (Disclaimer needed here… We live in a reasonably sized city. I imagine this may well be very, very different for residents in regional and remote areas.)
So, here’s my list of helpful things –
Panadol – but don’t go emptying the shelves of your local supermarket, you don’t need a bucket load.
Difflam spray and cough lollies for your sore throat.
Disinfectant wipes
Hand sanitiser gel
Chocolate – chocolate makes everything better
Supermarket and uber delivery apps.
And the things I have appreciated –
ALL the messages and text/phone chats, thank you!
ALL the offers of help to pick up / drop off things
Offers and deliveries of dinner meals, thank yooouuu!!
Daily check in from SA Health, makes me feel confident the people without friends close by won’t be missed. As well as Red Cross sending a message offering support too.
I’m needing another nap now! Hopefully next week will be a little more constructive and I’ll bring more of the content I had planned. Shelley and Jess will be out taking some more photos in the sunshine to show you what’s coming to the Gathered / Adelady markets on Feb 19 and 20, and all these items available online too.
Stay well everyone! Nicola xxx
